The Jukkasjärvi Ice Hotel in Sweeden is technically just called “Ice Hotel”, but for this article, we are going to include the city in front of the name since all hotels on this list are ice hotels. It was originally founded in 1989 and has since grown into much more. They use a unique blend they call “snice” to build the structures, that change every year as the shape of the hotel changes from year to year. Snice is a mixture of snow and ice that is easy to shape into various structures.

Here is another amazing snow structure in Finland. Located in the city of Kemi, this “Snow Castle” as the locals call it is the biggest snow fort in the entire world. It was founded in 1996 and originally covered an area of 13,000 meters. It has since grown to cover an area of 20,000 meters today. Aside from its tremendous size, the castle has other cool accommodations including a restaurant, chapel, and hotel section for guest. In the restaurant you will find ice tables/chairs covered in reindeer fur. The chapel contains over 100 seats for wedding guest as that is what the chapel is most used for. In the hotel section, you will find standard rooms as well as honeymoon suites. The Alpeniglu Igloo Village is a winter weather resort located in the mountains of Tyrol, Austria. Alpeniglu consist of 18 Igloos that serve as hotel rooms. Of these rooms, one of them is the Romantic Igloo Suite. The Romantic Suite offers access to a beautiful drink bar, bedroom with flowers/candles, and even your own restaurant-style booth to eat in. Hotel De Glace, which is French for “Hotel of Ice”, is one of the larger ice hotels. It offers an amazing location too with it being just minutes outside of downtown Quebec. There are over 40 guest rooms in addition to specialty rooms such as honeymoon suites. In addition to this, the hotel is known for its world-class ice sculptures. This ice hotel probably has the best ice sculptures of any ice hotel in the world. Not only are they cosmetically beautiful, but they are also enormous. If you want to book a stay at this hotel then you will have to do it between January 4-March 26 in which temperatures are cold enough to support such ice structures.

When you first arrive at the hotel you are treated to a drink made with local berries that you cannot find anywhere else in the world. It is a local cuisine that visitors report being very tasty. The Balea Lac Hotel is unquestionably the coolest and most amazing ice hotel in the world. In order to get to this place, you have to travel high up into the mountains of Transylvania in Romania. There you will find the Balea Lac Hotel which is located on top of a frozen glacial lake(Lake Balea). The hotel is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Romania, greeting over 8000 people every year. Not only is the hotel made of ice, but they embed lights into all of the ice structures in building. This particular feature is unique to the Balea Lac Hotel.
