Top 10 Most Beautiful and Amazing Trees On Earth

Trees are one of nature’s most amazing wonders. Coming in many shapes and colors, trees constitute arguably the most important living organism on earth. Without trees, a significant amount of the oxygen in the atmosphere would disappear and result in many of the life forms on earth going extinct. Not only that, but trees also supply a great percentage of the worlds food supply through the generation of fruits and edible vegetation. Most trees are designed for just these purposes, but there are some trees that are amazing for reasons other than their general function as part of Earth’s ecosystem. Some trees come in striking color patterns and amazing shapes. Below is a list of the top 10 most beautiful and amazing trees on this planet.

Rainbow Eucalyptus trees are most densely located in the southern hemisphere near the equator. However, they have such a large range that they actually extend into parts of the northern hemisphere. They are the only tree of Eucalyptus species, which contains hundreds of trees, to migrate that far north.

These trees are also exceptionally tall reaching over 200 feet. They supply a high percentage of the world’s pulpwood which is used to make paper. In the Philippines they are the sole source of pulpwood and are responsible for all production of paper in the country. Aside from paper production, rainbow eucalyptus trees have become a star attraction at tropical resorts all over the world. These trees can even be grown as far north as the United States.

While they are not native in the United States, Wisteria trees have been introduced to several regions and California is actually home to the largest Wisteria tree in the world.

The largest wisteria on earth is located in Sierra Madre, California. That wisteria spans more than 1 acre and weighs a massive 500,000 pounds. It has been growing since 1894. Number 6 – Chair Tree

This tree chair was made by a technique called tree shaping. Tree shaping is the art of using obstacles to shape the growth of a tree. Trees have an amazing ability to go around any object that is in their way. The first step in this process is to start growing the tree before using any obstacles. Once the tree is over a foot tall you may introduce an obstacle, but you must make sure that the obstacle does not block all sunlight. Once you have placed the obstacle in place you want to be sure that it is going to form the desired shape.

Improper obstacle placement will result in a shape that you were not seeking so precise obstacle placement is paramount. However, if you are determined to make your own tree chair or tree shaped sculpture, you can find the necessary information to make whatever you want.

Number 3 – Dragonblood Trees in Yemen

The Dragon Blood Tree, one of the 120 dragon tree species, is native to the Socotra Archipelago of Yemen. They get the name “Dragon Blood” because of the dark red sap that they produce. Dragon Blood Trees have a unique appearance that resembles an umbrella at the top with the densely packed branches covered in leaves.. These branches are also unique in the fact that leaves only form on the youngest branches. Leaves are only shed every 3-4 years which is not typical for most trees on the Socotra Archipelago.

Dragon blood trees grow a small fruit that is orange when ripe. These fruits are inedible to humans, but make up a prominent source of food for native bird populations. Flowering also occurs on the end of the branches. Every February green and white flowers form at the top of the tree. An umbrella shape at the top of the tree is a biological adaptation to protect the tree from evaporation as it grows in areas where the soil is very dry with little moisture. The covering provided by the branches, leaves, and flowers help to give the tree shade to shield it from the suns heat. Thanks to this adaptation dragon blood trees can grow in areas that are uninhabitable to most tree species such as mountain tops, rocky slopes, and even on sand-filled terrain.
